Aug 6: Ukraine Children, Hiroshima Bombing Anniversary

Greetings Rotarians and Friends,

Yesterday, my family and I had the profound experience of visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. Standing in the shadow of history, we were reminded of the devastating impact of the atomic bombing and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. As we walked through the exhibits, we were struck by the stories of those who suffered and survived, and by the ongoing commitment to peace and reconciliation that the memorial embodies.

As members of the Los Alamos Rotary Club, we carry a unique responsibility in the pursuit of peace. August 6 marks the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing, a moment in history that forever changed our world. It is a poignant reminder of our duty to advocate for understanding and peace-building in all corners of the globe and take meaningful action to foster dialogue, empathy, and cooperation ensuring that the lessons of the past guide us towards a better tomorrow.

Yours in Rotary,

James Wernicke, Service Chair
